How long is a day?

A full day typically runs from 10:30/11am to around 7pm, but I’m flexible depending on the session.

How much will I get done in one day?

There’s no simple answer, but as a rough guide:

  • Bands tracking individual instruments (typical modern recording method) – can usually record a track on day one, then a second day for mixing and mastering. You don’t need to be present for mixing/mastering unless you want to be.
  • A solo artist playing a single instrument (e.g. guitar or piano) can often get through much more, depending on how complex the vocal and instrumental layers are. If you’re well-rehearsed, a simple song – or possibly more – could be recorded, mixed, and mastered in one day.
Does the price include mixing / mastering?

See “How much will I get done in one day?”

The day rate covers whatever we can achieve in the time, including access to everything in the studio, and my time as your engineer and producer.

Can you mix tracks I’ve recorded elsewhere (remote mixing)?

Absolutely! We offer a full remote mixing and mastering service. Pricing depends on the specifics of your project, but as a rough guide, typically allow for one full day at the above rate per song.
Please feel free to get in touch with details and I’ll happily give you a more tailored estimate.

How do unlimited revisions work with billing?

We’ll keep tweaking until you’re completely satisfied. Revisions within the quoted time are included at no extra cost. If changes get complex or push beyond the quote, we’ll flag it for agreement and bill the extra time at an hourly rate derived from our standard day rate. Simple as that!

Can you record multiple instruments simultaneously?

Yes! We can record up to 32 inputs at once, so full bands or classical ensembles can play together and be recorded in one pass, the old-fashioned way. The only trade-off is separation – because our facility isn’t large enough to give everyone their own soundproof room, the recording will naturally have a more live feel.

Can you teach me sound engineering and music production?

Absolutely! I encourage questions and I’m happy to share my knowledge. Many clients pick up useful skills just by being involved in the session. One-to-one training like this is usually expensive, but it’s all included in the day rate if you want it – just bear in mind that it will take up some session time.
